Clinical Evidence & Regulatory Registration

MedpeR® has been evaluated in a published randomized controlled trial, discussed in peer-reviewed literature, and formally registered as a Class A NSNM medical device — alongside granted patent, design, and trademark protection. This page summarises that record for procurement, clinical, and regulatory review.

A Published, Peer-Reviewed Randomized Controlled Trial

A factorial randomized controlled trial of 120 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes tested four approaches: standard care alone, standard care plus a medication adherence device (MedpeR®), standard care plus a clinical pharmacological review, and standard care plus both combined. The trial ran May–December 2023 and was published in the Journal of Diabetology in October–December 2024.

This was a pilot-scale study (30 patients per arm). The authors themselves note that future research should assess diverse populations and long-term sustainability — a normal and expected next step for a trial at this stage, not a limitation specific to MedpeR®.

Also Discussed in Peer-Reviewed Literature

The following peer-reviewed reviews discuss MedpeR® as an example of innovative adherence technology within a broader survey of the field. These are literature reviews, not independent studies of MedpeR® — the RCT above remains the primary clinical evidence.

Conference Abstracts

Ahead of the factorial RCT above, an earlier single-site pilot evaluation of MedpeR® (30 urban elderly patients, 2-arm design) was presented at two conferences. This pilot is a separate, smaller study from the published trial — presented here as part of the same ongoing research programme, not as additional evidence for the published results.
